Politicians nowadays claim that consumers have to be informed about products containing „nano“.
But what is nano?
Is it helpful when you want to buy suncream and there is written „contains nano-particles“ on it?
Do you know more about its risk or hazards?
Do you know more about its contains or fabrication process?
There are so many kinds of nano and nano-particles, so that only one „nano-category“ does not cope with the hole nano-world and all its facets.
But if one would make something like N-numbers (leaned on the E-numbers for additives) no one would really check what they mean, either.
In the talk of Stephanie Lacour, some images (not meant to serious) showing proposed nano-danger labels were shown.
Would this be the solution to warn the public?
Are all nano-particles possibly dangerous? What is with the bound ones?
So, what is your suggestion to solve this problem?
I don’t think you should put nano warnings on consumer products. If scientists don’t understand what it means how can you inform the public? Of course research is needed to see whether there are risks and if a product is not save it shouldn’t be allowed on the market and if there is a risk (like might cause cancer) you should inform the public, but these risks are not only for nano products and I think that most things can be put in existing categories.
